CIRA's 2009 Nominating Committee - New Members Selected

Ottawa, February 24, 2009 –The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), the organization responsible for operating the dot-ca Internet domain is pleased to announce its newly selected Nomination Committee Members.

The Nomination Committee holds a critical role in attracting a diverse roster of qualified Candidates to ensure that CIRA’s Member-elected Board of Directors encompasses a wide range of views and interests when defining the strategic direction of CIRA as it contributes to the Canadian Internet policy.

Nomination Committee Members are selected from applicants from public, private, not-for-profit, and academic sector organizations to reflect the diversity of Canada’s Internet community.

The 2009 Nomination Committee is comprised of the following new members who join the committee for a two-year term: Ash Abhyankar, Malcolm Andrew, Gaston Gohou, Susan M. Mitchell. They join current Members Tim Denton, Jim Green, Robert Guerra, Stuart MacDonald, and Omayma Moharram to form CIRA’s 2009 Nomination Committee.

CIRA wishes to acknowledge the contributions of outgoing Nomination Committee members: Terrance Cormier, Patrick Martin, Cliff McCollum, Don Reese, and David Smith. CIRA also thanks all applicants and extends its congratulations to selected Members.
