Who can register a .CA domain name?
To register a .CA domain name an applicant must have a connection to Canada, through one of the following categories:
- Canadian Citizen
- Permanent resident
- Legal representative
- Trade union
- Political party
- Educational institution
- Library, Archive or Museum
- Her Majesty the Queen
- Indian band
- Aboriginal Peoples
- Trade-mark registered in Canada
- Official marks

How many .CA domain names can an individual or organization register?
Any qualifying individual or organization can register an unlimited number of .CA domain names.
To whom will a domain name be registered?
The domain name will be registered to the person or organization named in the Registrant field.
If there is more than one request for the same domain name, to whom will the name be registered?
.CA domain names are registered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can anything be registered as a domain name?
No. CIRA will accept only domain names that are admissible in accordance with CIRA's Policies, Rules and Procedures.
